Bmw 9 Gran Coupé – The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe was unveiled as one of the brand’s latest ICE sedans. The Mercedes CLA rival skips a mid-cycle refresh and moves on to a new generation.
The launch of the new generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is just over a year away. You may be confused by the fact that the current model arrives in 2020, but the company’s strategy does not include a mid-cycle refresh for the small sedan. Instead, a next-generation model is currently being developed and is known as the F74. After the first two prototypes caught by our spies, we can now share a preview of the latest design of the brand’s smallest sedan.

And features a significantly redesigned BMW four-door. It doesn’t stand out much in terms of overall side profile or proportions, but the front is more pronounced thanks to the 5 Series-inspired headlights. Thankfully, there’s no sign of large kidney grilles, and the automaker says it’s bringing the larger design to its larger, more performance-oriented models.

Judging by the quad tailpipes at the rear, the model pictured here is likely the range-topping M235 xDrive that was photographed as a prototype earlier this year. The next-generation 2-Series Gran Coupe will be powered by a front-wheel-drive, AWD platform offered on select trim levels in combination with select engines.
The small sedan could be one of the last new internal combustion cars from the Bavarian marque as the company continues its full electrification strategy. The Series 2 GC, which is still available at the marque’s dealers, has diesel options in select European markets, and the anathemaed compression-ignition technology may get a last chance with the new generation.
According to a recent report by BMW Blog, the base American model will ride on 18-inch wheels as standard, while 19-inch wheels will be available as an option. An illuminated grille seen on other larger and more expensive BMW models will be part of the sedan’s optional equipment. In terms of power, the M235 xDrive model is expected to generate around 300 horsepower via a B48 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine. Production is scheduled to begin in November 2024.
