Street legal, super production machines are crossing the barrier. So far, no one has delivered (we’ll talk about Bugatti in a moment), but Koenigsegg could be involved in that effort.
Absolute Speed: Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Breaks Records; Goes 0 400 0 Kmph In A Single Run
We show you an Instagram post shared today by the Swedish hypercar brand. We’ve been treated to three images of the Agera RST – a rebrand of the Agera RSN in a 1,360 horsepower package from the Koenigsegg One:1. Although stunning and epic in almost every way, that’s why we’re sharing the text of this post. Koenigsegg talks about speed records, including the top speed and the 0-249-0 mph title it recently repeated with the Reger. At the end of the sentence, it is confirmed that the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut will “challenge those records in due time”.
. The Jesko Absolut is a version with a speed of more than 300 mph; it debuts in 2020 and last we heard it was still in production and undergoing spec testing. With this new social media talking point, we may finally be getting close to seeing what Koenigsegg’s ultimate speed machine can do.
The company is certainly no stranger to speed records. There’s the aforementioned Regera that currently reigns supreme for acceleration and braking, and the Agera RS has a speed demon of 277.8 mph. If the technology is all about top speed testing (as Koenigsegg does in their post), the Agera RS is still the fastest production-spec homologated road car in the world. The SSC Tuatara recorded an official speed of 282.9 mph at the start of 2021 back-to-back runs at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds. But the car is not approved for road use.
As with Bugatti’s top speed ambitions, the 304 km/h Chiron Super Sport 300+ in 2019 was only exhibited in one direction. The official speed is calculated as the average of two runs in opposite directions to negate the effects of wind and road gradient. Also, Bugatti’s record-setting production model has been modified for driving. When the production version arrived, the limit was adjusted to speeds below the 300 mph threshold. And Bugatti released the chase records.
Koenigsegg Aims To Challenge Ssc Tuataras Speed Record
As such, Koenigsegg remains among the official manufacturers of the speed king’s cars. And it sounds like Jesko Absolut is about to raise the bar even higher. Koenigsegg just broke the record for the fastest speed from zero to 400 km/h (248.5 mph) and back to zero in a whopping 27.83 seconds, beating the previous record holder, uh-Koenigsegg. More specifically, the Swedish hypercar marque hired Markus Lundh to push his new Jesko Absolut to mind-boggling speeds in an attempt to better the record he set in 2023 on the Koenigsegg Regera.
That’s not the only record Lundh found in the world attempt, held on June 27 at Rebro Airport in Sweden: he staggered 412 km/h (256 mph) and thus set records for the fastest acceleration sprint from zero to 400 km/h (18, 82 seconds); fastest from zero to 250 mph (402 km/h, in 19.2 seconds); and then the zero to 250 mph record (28.27 seconds).
The vehicle used is an Absolut variant of the brand new Jesko; It’s built specifically for high speeds, and thus has tweaks like vertical stabilizer fins instead of Jesko’s drag-inducing base spoiler. Absolut’s record attempt was largely stock, although it was fitted with a roll cage and driver’s seat from the brand’s One:1 model.
The Jesko Absolut that Lundh drove was powered to those record-breaking speeds by a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8 that produced about 1,600 horsepower and ran on ethanol fuel. All that power was provided by Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, standard for Jesko.
Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Ready To Hit 330 Mph (532 Km/h) In Theory
Marques CEO Christian von Koenigsegg said in breaking these new records that he wants to take the title of “world’s fastest homologated production car”, even in the not too distant future; Tires like those mentioned above on the Pilot Sport Cup 2R are obviously limiting factors. Once Michelin can test its circuits for Koenigsegg’s speedometers, Jesko Absolut is targeting it.
Once it achieves that, Koenigsegg says it’s done chasing the top speed record and will set out to break lap records with the handling-focused Jesko Attack variant.
However, when it comes to speed, Koenigsegg will face competition from rivals such as Hennessey, who are also aiming to hit some big numbers well in excess of the 300 mph (482.8 mph) already clocked by its Venom GT. It should also be noted that Bugatti also presented its latest model, the Tourbillon, which is certainly not in vain and may be a contender for the fastest brands to produce.

The world’s fastest car race is a long way off, and Christian von Koenigsegg has announced a new attempt later this year. The company is currently looking for a suitable vehicle to explore the limits of the Jesko Absolut, which has been declared the fastest Koenigsegg ever.
The founder and CEO of Koenigsegg revealed that the first example of the Jesko Absolut has just been delivered to a customer in Switzerland, and several units have already been produced. The start of deliveries sounds like the right time to try to set a world record, which Christian von Koenigsegg openly talked about with the debut of the 2020 model.
