This is how Jaguar Land Rover succinctly describes its new Range Rover SV Autobiography, as if to say that the price itself is a big selling point. Debuting today at the New York International Auto Show, the luxury SUV is one of the most expensive in the world — “starting at $199,495,” to be exact, which gets you a 5.0-liter V8 engine.

But the SV Autobiography is less about the driver and more about everyone in the car. The interior has monitors and folding tables, a cooling chamber and deep pile mohair carpets. And then there’s “Event Seating…handcrafted from beautiful Windsor leather” (according to the press release). Unfortunately, Land Rover does not allow anyone to open the trunk to see these seats (see image below). But the rep assured us they were very cool.

There are very few SUVs in this price range – Mercedes’ V12-powered G65 AMG starts at $217,900 today – but auto marques including Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls Royce are rumored to soon follow. Meanwhile, SV’s autobiography will go on sale this summer. Perfect for playing beer pong with a squirrel body and 19th century glass haired beer. Many luxury brands have ventured into territory that was not strictly the domain of Land Rover and its Range Rover SUV not too long ago.

But the British brand doesn’t want you to forget that it’s still the original purveyor of luxury SUVs. That’s why it offers a Range Rover that is more luxurious than the luxurious standard model.

The vehicle is known as the Range Rover SVAutobiography, and the latest version was revealed just one day after its world debut on Wednesday at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. It will go on sale early next year as a 2018 model.

This is a version of the Range Rover handcrafted by Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO personalization department. It offers a combination of craftsmanship, exclusivity and technology that marks it as the top of the Land Rover range.

The interior is the real star of this car. Most of the driver’s switchgear is made of solid aluminum with beautiful knurled detailing. From here, a dramatic fixed center console runs the length of the cabin and ends with a pair of comfortable seats. Thanks to the powerful 40-degree tilt option, hot stone massage function, heated leg and foot support, you’ll never want to leave this seat.

There are also some modern touches. Rear seat passengers can now close the rear doors using buttons on the center console. To take full advantage of the 4G Wi-Fi connectivity, they are also used with power-opening rear seats and an integrated 10.0-inch touchscreen. Finally, there is also an exclusive new Zenith watch on the back, with a design inspired by the Elite 6150 watch. Its knurled bezel matches the switchgear pattern at the front of the cabin.

The Range Rover SVAutobiography is only offered with the Range Rover Long Wheelbase. Buyers who want similar luxury in a smaller size can opt for Land Rover’s new Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic.

Powertrain options include the familiar 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 with 550 horsepower, as well as Range Rover’s new plug-in hybrid, featuring a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 and a combination of electric motor producing 398 hp. Note that the hybrid is only available for the 2019 model year.

Compared to other full-size Range Rover variants, the SVAutobiography is as luxurious as it gets. This is most obvious for rear passengers, who have about 47 inches (1.2 meters) of legroom.
